Are you committed to the seeing an end to AIDS within a generation?

Do you believe in the power that activism can play in pushing for change?

Do you have what it takes to inspire other young people to take up the fight?

The Student Stop AIDS Campaign is currently recruiting for two young people (18-25) to join us to attend the International AIDS Conference, as well as the youth pre-conference, in Washington DC in July 2012.

The International AIDS Conference is a major gathering for those working in the field of HIV, as well as policy makers, people living with HIV and other individuals committed to ending the pandemic. It is a chance to learn and engage in dialogue on the major issues facing the global AIDS response as well as the major scientific developments. There is also an exceptional opportunity for professional development, networking and engaging in activism. The Youth AIDS 2012 pre-conference will act as a youth-focused precursor to AIDS 2012 and will aim to strengthen the participation of youth and the profile of youth issues at AIDS 2012.

This is a fantastic opportunity to represent the campaign at an international level. If successful you will attend a selection of talks, discussions and debates on the most up to date thinking in the field, feeding back all key learning afterwards.  You will be committed activists throughout the conference taking part in a range of actions, protests and media stunts including a mass mobilisation of 30,000 people in the streets of Washington DC. You will support in mobilising other young people to take action through providing training, support and ideas. There will also be opportunity to act as youth representatives in selected discussions, allowing us to highlight the voice of young people.

This is a great opportunity for any young people who want to get involved in international AIDS activism on the most pressing issues impacting upon the response like treatment access, full funding, just drug policies, prevention, TB, housing, and human rights to mention a few.
