Restless Development and the Student Stop AIDS Campaign are looking for nominations from young people aged 25 and under to become a Trustee of STOPAIDS. This is a very exciting opportunity for a UK based advocate to join the Board as STOPAIDS seeks to implement its new strategic plan, and move forward with the new brand and identity.

What is a Trustee? Trustees are part of the Executive Committee of STOPAIDS, responsible for the overall direction of the charity and the proper functioning of the Secretariat. They are the people legally responsible for the overall management and decision-making.

Trustees are supposed to reflect the diversity of the wider STOPAIDS membership, taking on specific “overseeing” responsibilities, bringing their expertise to bear on aspects of STOPAIDS work (e.g. campaigning, policy development, personnel or finance). Find out more about the role of Trustees here.

STOPAIDS is specifically interested in receiving applications from young candidates and Restless Development is keen to support young people in our networks to take up this exciting opportunity! You do not need to be an expert about HIV. We’re looking for candidates who have demonstrated commitment to the Global Response to HIV and AIDS (e.g. through campaigning or volunteering). As the youth-led development agency, Restless Development is keen to support candidates who are also committed to the role of young people in international development.

Being a trustee gives you the opportunity to develop decision-making, management and influencing skills. It will also give you the opportunity to learn more about how UK civil society collaborates to influence and contribute to the global response to HIV and AIDS. The team at Restless Development would also work with you to support you in your role.

What kind of commitment does it involve? Meetings are held six times a year in London and it is important to obtain the agreement from your organisation to give this time to STOPAIDS business. Travel costs to London will be covered by STOPAIDS.

How do I apply?

Please send your CV and cover letter explaining why you want to be considered as a potential Trustee of STOPAIDS to eleanork@restlessdevelopment.org.
